Evolution?

As Christians, we do not believe in evolution but looking at how far or different the EY has become, one cannot come away with a feeling of how much the EY has 'evolved'. I joined EY when I accepted the Lord during my secondary school years. Back then, life were simpler. I was either at home or in church. I used to hang out in the church office where the current Sunday School block is located. There weren't much trouble that I could have gotten into. The only major ones were only BGR problems, and as back then, the girls outnumber the boys, so that's not quite a problem in the my perspective. EY was something I could really get into. It is one of the areas of my life then, that I really felt a sense of belonging. It was as if I owned it, and EY owns me. I cared for EY's health and as a part of its body, EY cared for me too. So in my growing up days, EY played a major part in how I grew into the person that I am.
Now, fast forwarding a couple of years (OK, decades) EY now, has its own room. We have progressed from using a guitar for our singspiration to sometimes using full band. The youths no longer hang out, but they chat on cyber space. EY has a lot of other things to contend with for the attention and time of the youths. Tuitions (which is funny because since the syllabus is easier and the youths are smarter, that would work out to having less not more tuition), computer, astro, BGR (now boys outnumber the girls) and a whole bucket load of stuff. Ever since I have gotten back with the EY, I have come away with the feeling, that EY has evolved. Here's the thing, changing with times and situation is a sign of life. EY, believe it or not is alive. It has its quirks, behaviors and mood swings. EY is basically behaving how the youths would behave. EY is essentially the youth. So, as we move into another phase of EY, let's us see what this phase of 'evolution' will turn EY into. Good or bad, it is a ride, a journey that we will enjoy. Looking beyond the horizon, a few months down the road, another phase will begin, the older youths will move on to other places for studies, leaving the younger ones to be the older ones. EY will then take on another identity, another 'evolution'.

PS: Just a note, the fellowship night will now begin at 7.30pm instead of 7.00pm. We will have some food, games, fellowship, songs and will most probably end by 10.00pm.
